Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. This is part three of my impromptu college recruitment presentation experience. I asked the person in charge of the trip to ask the head of the registrar's office to ask the human resources manager if we could look through her files to be able to get the home phone number of the technician. I don't know who along the line decided that the trouble wasn't worth it, but I just got the answer that we would have to settle for the video of the robot competition instead. Personally, that is what I would have gone for because any new robots we were going to be making would be from the kit, and if any of the technically savvy kids at that school knew of the robotics kit and its standard robots, they wouldn't be impressed anymore with what we had brought. I'd rather wow them with the new designs that our students have created. The same is true with the special effects intensive Science Fiction films that our students had done, the building designs my Engineering Computer Aided Design and Drawing students have made, and the 3D animation films that were being presented on that same day. Anyway, at least we were not being insisted on going to school on Sunday anymore, although there was that promise of a “treat” which never materialized. But I'm getting ahead of my story. Finally on the day itself: My cousin and I were at the pick up point at 6am, only to receive a text message from the teacher leaving the campus with the vehicle that she was just on her way to the school. I also received a last-minute text from a student who said she couldn't make it because she woke up late. That eleventh hour cancellation ties in well with my topic today in the student version. Anyway, I was also receiving texts from the students saying that they were in the school, and the teacher wasn't there yet. I had to placate both. Almost thirty minutes after the set departure time, I receive another message saying they were on their way. Session 1283 was woefully unprepared for a supposedly important presentation. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
