Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Ephraim was late again for our most recent robot competition, and what was irritating is that when he did arrive, he was very vocal about when they should have won the soccer match already, when even one of his classmates was telling him to shut up because he didn't know the rules for competition discussed earlier in the class. Besides that, despite being absent the day before when only one of his group mates was scrambling to finish their robot, he was insisting that a part he made and suggested at the start be included, when again the rule had been that there would be no revisions after the games have started, to be fair to all playing. Anyway, since we now have only one week left of classes after this, I told them they could use that week to revise their robot based on what they've seen their classmates come up with, and we will have a second competition at the end of that week. After all, this was the most exciting competition we've had so far, with robots ramming each other and trying to avoid each other, but at the same time trying to accomplish another goal (pun intended), which was to get the ball in the goal. There were a lot of moments when the ball almost got into the goal, but was either pushed away by the defender or by the offensive robot itself. I'm already thinking of how to get the integrated school students to participate in the cheering, by presenting the "combatants" before the match, and maybe also to provide a video projector for everyone to view the battle even not around the soccer field. It would be a nice way to cap off their class projects for the term. I could definitely say that the soccer robot competition was the best and most exciting thing to happen in school for all of this week. I also have some news about the badminton varsity, and how unfair the tryouts are to some of the loyal participants from the past years, but I'll give the details of that next time. Session 1761 compensates for his academic inadequacies by being loud and argumentative. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
