Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. WVAP QUESTIONS THIS ONLINE JOURNAL’S PURPOSE CHAT”S COMMENT IN THE OTHER JOURNAL IS RESPONDED TO HERE THE THIRD EXAM IN ENERGY CONVERSION LECTURE CLASS Sometimes I don’t know why I do this anymore. The people I am writing this for, the ones that I don’t get to see everyday but only occasionally, don’t seem to be reading it anyway. I thought the purpose of this writing was to be able to update regularly the persons I meet infrequently with what’s been going on with my life without having to rehash every little detail when we eventually do gather together. Maybe the number of words I write a day – which is more or less standard – is too much for them. I don’t want to reduce the number though, because it’s an ongoing literary exercise and accomplishment for me. Perhaps I should just include headlines at the top, making it easier to see what today’s topics are before committing to several paragraphs’ worth of irrelevancies. @@ In the student accessible edition last Friday, Chat said, in reply to what I wrote about local television programming (and here I believe “programming” can also be used in the negative sense of the word, which means “conditioning”) that we shouldn’t watch too much television anyway. Yes, that’s what DVD collections are for, nowadays: to be able to select intelligently what we want to commit to watching instead of being barraged by what assaults our fancy while channel surfing, and without the influential commercials. @@ And this part, most likely, is what my imagined readers of this journal will probably skip: the technical details of one tedious part of an instructor’s job. In my ENCONVE class today, I will be giving their third exam, since it is the twelfth week and our covenant after the term started was that we would have exams every four weeks. The topic is unbalanced loads and power in three-phase generators. What the students don’t know, unless they know about this journal and will read this, is that one of the questions is the derivation that I gave them before as an optional assignment that no one passed. Session 1765 didn’t get the hint. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
