Bald Faced Cover Up Lies of Cheating Students

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Yesterday my co-teacher related the latest incident of cheating they caught.

Not that there have been many cases. In fact, this is the first that I've heard of in almost a year's time, showing how desperate it was.

It was for the general science requirement mechanics lab class.

Understandably, for some students this is just a minor subject and something to get over with as quickly as possible by any means.

The finals for the lab was open formulas, although I would have included the formulas in the questionnaire to prevent too many papers to keep track of on the students' desk some there just for distraction.

A girl passed her formulas to a guy. The proctor caught the exchange, and discovered that the paper had the solution to one of the questions on it. The guy said he wrote it down.

Now writing something like that down is already suspicious in itself.

What makes it more interesting is that cursory handwriting analysis shows the numbers are similar to how the girl writes them, and not the guy.

Another factor is that the guy's answer was already correct, but he crossed it out to copy the girl's (wrong) answer.

The guy says he's willing to fail the subject, as long as it's just him.

Evidence says the girl is culpable though, and she's not talking.

In fact, she went home (in disgust or something akin to it) when they were caught.

The teacher is willing to give them another test, but I said at least get a formal letter of apology from both of them under threat of going to the discipline officer for formal records.

Session 1943 doesn't think about the consequences of their actions. Class dismissed.
