2008-08-09 9:50 AM A/P: Frustrating Friday Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. The secretary of the Human Resources Officer got married yesterday. It was at the nearby church, with the reception not far away, but it was scheduled on a Friday afternoon. What's with that? At the same time (well, almost; a few hours later actually) there was supposed to be the last game of the faculty and staff basketball round robin. Unfortunately, it seems that Friday really is a bad time to schedule the games because several of the players could not make it due to start of the weekend commitments, either going out or going home. The funny thing is that it occured the day after the sports committee had another meeting saying that teams have to commit in writing to at least five players before a game can be scheduled, and that if they are defaulted, then they have to pay the seven hundred pesos for the services of the referees. And the team captain of our supposed opponent walked out last night, even though technically (by rules agreed upon) some of their players also couldn't play for not wearing the team color. I hope (just like I mentioned in the student accessible version yesterday) that they string out the basketball games a little further, since it's obvious trying to finish everything in one week isn't working. Besides, so much for the hype that's supposed to be built up by having the team standings posted everyday where everyone can see them and get revved. At least now the sports development officer is playing, since apparently in the last year not only were there complaints from the other members of the committee that he was acting manegerial and not doing any of the logistics (such as reservations) but that he also didn't play. What he's above us all? Because if it were about giving others a fair chance at playing and winning, then why wasn't I even considered for the badminton team of the inter-campus games, despite being the only one to show up for the scheduled tryouts (before which the roster was already done; which is why others didn't attend). Session 2305 hopes administrators won't sass teachers for trying to instill in them the same values that are being inculcated in the students. Class dismissed.
