2009-10-14 4:20 PM We're All Learning The New System Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Funny, the student leaders all the letters signed all at once: the letter to the dean, the letter to the physical facilities office, the letter to the sponsors. I had to remind them that unless it is approved by the dean, then they cannot send out the other letters. I also had to sign another letter today from the dance troupe, where it says I am okay, as head of student affairs that they are practicing without an adviser present. But for the first time, just like what I see the dean and the brother president doing sometimes, I had to write my own note there, not just on a condition I impose, but also on a condition that I write there that the organization is already supposed to know. This is that if there is one complaint from the discipline office, a parent or a teacher that their permit will be revoked pending an investigation into the nature of the complaint. The complaint can take one of three forms: it can be from the discipline officer with an offense made by one of the students practicing, such as smoking or public display of intimacy. This is because they might feel free to do whatever they want given they practice at an ungodly hour when there are few people in the campus besides the guard who still has to do rounds. The same is true if there are complaints from even one parent about them not being at home, which means that they did not ask permission or went somewhere else besides the practice. Lastly, there can be a complaint from a teacher about their academic performance. If even one teacher says that they are not turning in their assignments properly, then they are spending too much time practicing but not enough on studies, which is still their primary purpose here. @@ I am in my computer systems organization lab class right now. Even though their exercise today is relatively easier than what I asked them to do last meeting (multiplication by repeated addition and division by repeated subtraction) at least the way I see it, they seem to be having a more difficult time today than back then. I see the difference (besides having more time now than last time) as being because I do not leave the room to use the computer, since I brought with me a portable one I can use instead of the one in the faculty room next to the engineering lab. Does this mean that there is more outright copying when I am not around, like last time? I hope not, although they do still seem to be asking questions about parts and codes that they would have needed to be able to answer the programming exercise last week. Session 2831 is still getting fodder for posting in the middle of this, which will then have to wait until tomorrow. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
