Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Lazy-ass writing for today: here is the evaluation I sent the dean on the previously concluded Comm. Arts Fest. Student evaluation, based on 20 survey forms given to mostly freshmen by the organizers, was positive, although they did not specify anything in the comments except to say quote: it was great and the like. The organizers used the three days suspension of classes after the high floods as their excuse why they only gave all their forms on Monday. But even then, reserving the forms and putting up posters only three school days before the event is not good preparation, still put off till the last minute, or week. The room-to-room student theater group advertising received generally good reviews from the teachers and students who allowed them to present. But it was the only instance of a presentation during the week that was related to anything they learned in class. They picked commercially successful foreign horror films to fit their theme to show during the whole week. A senior, There was a non-CA student with outside contacts had approached them during their preparations offering to put them in contact with some indie film producers to show original films in campus, but they declined because quote: it did not fit their pre-Halloween theme. The winners of their Amazing Race felt cheated that they were led to believe they would receive 3,500 pesos for coming in first, when what happened was it was 2,000 pesos for 1st place, 1,000 pesos for 2nd place and 500 pesos for third, a total of 3,500 pesos allotted for all winners. They coordinated only with the SC President for their Fair, up until the first day they assumed they would be given 3 out of the 5 days per term that outside food sellers are allowed in campus. They believed the remaining 2 days were enough for the BA week. Since they did not inform me, they did not know of the ongoing talks with the Integrated School Student Affairs about sharing that 5 days with IS selling activities. For this term, IS requested for 2 out of the 5 days. At the same time that I was coordinating with the BA Week organizers, the CA Week organizers and the SC president were also going around talking to the OIC of the school of BA and the brother in the IS to get the full 3 days for CA Week, because, just like their excuse with the sports fest, that is what they already promised the students. In the end it was the BA Week organizers who forfeited selling food during their school week, so that CA Week would have the 3 days they expected. Recommendations are as follows: 1. Full coordination with School Week organizers, already underway with BA Week and Eng Week. 2. Development of School Week Objectives to specify what activities would be appropriate and would be approved. 3. Meeting with SC and IS at the end of each term to determine how the 5 selling days per term will be distributed. This will be implemented for the 3rd term. 4. Development of more comprehensive survey forms for student activities and requesting the assistance of teachers in their classes to ensure a more widespread coverage of respondents for the event. Session 2837 will give the suggested list of school week objectives next time. I just realized near formal writing does not need to use any contractions. Class dismissed.
