Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Another incident today or more accurately yesterday: there was a student who was in the east lobby stairs going to the parking lot. Four floors above, there were some integrated school students who were making catcalls and generally seeking attention. This female college student, thinking that it was fellow college students who were deriding her, stormed all the way up there to the badminton court, yelling at them and using profanity, even before realizing they were younger than her. She did apologize eventually, but what has to be prevented now is the kids telling their parents about it and them making a complaint. Hopefully the kids will not do that, and that whole incident will blow over. Still, for preventive measure, the discipline officer wrote a report. @@ As for the defense that I mentioned in the student accessible version, I was surprised that the director of the school of engineering left right at the start of the question and answer portion, leaving it to us. And the other one was a young teacher almost recent grad at that. But he had the most questions, including one that tried to bring out the contributions of the one who spoke the least during the presentation. It was a good effort, but really, it is not practical for anything, just a steppingstone towards something useful. @@ With regards to the talk show of the Business Administration Week that happened before that, the host, in David Letterman or Jay Leno style, had an opening monologue of stand up jokes. It got the audience in the mood, even if some of the jokes were a bit green (literally and figuratively) there was a series of jokes about grass. And, knowing that I was going to talk about the spa business, I was ready for his questions about extra service. I also felt a bit bad for his Man Friday, Paul Schaffer or Ed McMahon if you will. He went about blaming every technical difficulty on the guy, and telling the audience to give him one big boo for his failings. Also, he did not have any interesting questions prepared to ask me. And I did let them flounder because I did not want to steal the show. @@ I should also be glad that the current student council seems to be taking steps already for ratifying their constitution. What I should be a bit worried about though is that they seem to be concentrating on the rules for resignation (forced or otherwise) of officers who seem to be not doing their duties, something that has happened in the past two years. The academic commissioner this year for example, is the ex-girlfriend of the president from last year. And some time during the first term, she became the ex-girlfriend of the current vice president of the council as well. She has sent out feelers about resigning during that time, but it has not materialized. At the same time she has not been fulfilling her duties because it hurts too much for her to be in the same room as her most recent ex. Well, that is the worst of shipboard romances for you. And by shipboard I mean among those working in the same office. But they are young, and since we cannot tell them how to deal with relationships in that aspect they have to make their own mistakes. Session 2867 hopes to be able to post tomorrow again. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
