2009-12-21 11:54 AM Good Close to the Year Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. I was very, very fortunate this morning. I set my alarm for 430am, and it snoozed for four times until 5am. Then my other alarm on my other phone started beeping. By that time, I was ready to get up. I hope that is the case for all days, and not depending on the amount of sleep acquired earlier that determines it. Anyway, so I was on the way to school by the short route, the one that has me walking about three kilometers where otherwise the tricycles would ask me to pay seventy pesos for a special trip (solo passenger). But on the way there, I passed where the shuttle usually waits. I thought there would be no shuttle anymore today because the Integrated School does not have classes anymore, but it was there. So I told the driver of the jeep to stop just after the gas station where the shuttle was parked, and sure enough, it was the right shuttle number. It definitely beat having to walk in what I thought was cloudy weather that turned out to be drizzling. As it happened there were only three of us who rode the shuttle that day. One was from the accounting office and the other was from the media services under the office of the registrar. There was another from the accounting office who usually rode with us, but apparently she was one of those who had already used up one of her vacation days to get a head start on the holidays. Also, the guy from the media services brought two shopping bags of groceries with him as part of their Christmas picnic. At the same time it was as a birthday celebration of their office head, just back from her maternity leave. Sadly, the unpredictable weather made them celebrate indoors instead of in the grounds. We were invited, after we had already had our early lunch/late breakfast, but the games afterwards (musical trip to Jerusalem, chain of hands ping pong relay) made us all hungry for more food despite having already eaten. Of course their boss was there with them, so it was okay for them to have an extended lunch hour, although three of the personnel, who were part of admissions and testing, had to leave in the middle of some of the games to entertain with student applicants. That is part of the nature of their job. @@ And now some of the students, graduates and employees are playing ultimate Frisbee in the soccer field, probably for the last time this year, although they reserved the field (approved) for the next few days. @@ The secretary of the office of student affairs is closing some of her books for the year, getting a lot of her paperwork off her table by forcing me to sign them, or at least edit them, knowing full well that the dean will not be able to sign it today, but most likely will be by January 4. What I do not like about it is that some students even go so far as to ask me what time I will leave because they want to get something signed as soon as possible. Not that I do that anymore. I am getting used to returning letters back to the students for editing. Session 2897 knows why they pass through the secretary. Class dismissed.
