2010-01-05 1:00 AM Questionable Morality Like Quicksilver Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Yesterday one of my co-teachers went down to the office of the registrar to say that one of his students was not in his class list. Apparently though, he was from another section and started going to his class without notification. So to the teacher he was enrolled in for trigonometry, he got a failing grade. Of course the parents can complain. The teacher who accepted him in his class would have to admit the blame. It is so telling that when a student is not in their class list they automatically assume that it is the fault of the system. @@ A new teacher (part-time), another graduate of ours, who is also a systems developer had to set his schedule for his forty hours around the six hours of regular teaching that he has and one special class. First of all, he set his time to be from eight in the morning to five in the afternoon as being nine hours, not counting the lunch break. Besides that, he also made his Friday into a half day, so that he will only have to be here until lunch time then he can take off. Apparently, though, that is not acceptable for the human resources office. They allow going to work late, but not leaving early. So he will have to revise his schedule. And to think, if he had set it all from eight to five everyday, it would be enough. @@ I attended a meeting earlier with the brother president and the dean where of course all of the work trickled down to me, the lowest ranked person in the room. I did not even notice that the brother president was carbon copied in the email that the dean sent me in response to asking for a schedule about the no smoking policy and dress code slash school attire. I thought we were just going to hone the plan between the two of us before it was elevated to the dean. @@ Here is another indication that short cuts or loopholes in the system travel fast. Yesterday was advising for those who may have failed certain subjects or for those who may be taking irregular subjects not for their batch. The whole day the director of the school of engineering left his account open on the computer beside the printer so that I could easily print the pre-enrollment forms of his advisees without having to give up my seat or the terminal. Now students are showing up going to that specific computer wanting to print. Sadly the director logged out when he accessed the computer earlier, so I can no longer print, and the students who arrive cannot seem to grasp the concept and the look on their face says that they believe I am just being difficult. @@ Just to round out my tale of the holiday break: first Friday of the year was spent at the condo of Justin and Chat playing WII as usual, with his brothers from New Jersey and gaming group there. Saturday was spent at home just like December 29 to January 1 watching movies on DVD, bought at a year end sale. Sunday was going around the suburbs south of Manila with my friend from college and his family from LA. Session 2901 believes more could have been done during the vacation and towards work goals as well. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
