2010-02-04 1:00 AM Expensive Prevention Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. I just got an email from the college administrative assistant saying that there will be no First Friday mass tomorrow due to the unavailability of any nearby priests. Before we even had to fetch and bring the priests from as far away as two towns. Now even that is not feasible anymore. I will not use this to comment about how more people need religion nowadays, although I just did. @@ There were two things that I did not get to write about from two days ago. That same campus that I mentioned had the bomb threat and the ex-couple stabbing there was actually a third incident. Well, technically it is the first as it was chronologically older. They have a cheerleader in a coma from hitting her face on the floor after falling from the top of a three man human pyramid. Now there are going to be rules set up to ensure that the students do not do anything so dangerous for the competitions, although that actually means they will always lose out to those who take more risks. But of course the administrators are thinking more of the safety and preventive measures than that. Maybe there can be just an inter campus competition like that within the district, using all safe maneuvers. @@ The second, as I mentioned above, is about a boy using a butterfly knife to stab in the chest and stomach a girl who did not want to get back together with him. This was in campus. The boy was arrested, but has since been set out on bail. What bothers a lot of people about this is that both students have actually been students in the school since grade school. So they are more concerned with how the formation of these kids did not prevent them from such an act. As I mentioned last time, this also makes everyone want to start checking bags before going into campus again. I personally do not believe that random bag checking is the solution, especially if it is something as obvious to detect as inspecting the possessions of every tenth student to pass through the gate. This is one of those situations that I think it should be all or nothing. Yes, it will be a hassle for those arriving close to the bell time, and it cannot be used as an excuse for being late but that only means they have to go earlier. Also, one more thing I forgot to mention is that when I told the story of the parent and the driver in the car to the committee, the head of the prefects immediately assumed it was the maid of a grade seven student. What I did not get to ask was if they had already told the parents of that student about the behavior of their help. Another thing we talked about was the possible non-reaccreditation of the school shuttles, because of various infractions. Latest I heard was leaving a student in campus out of seven passengers, who had to be picked up by the mother at 7pm. Now the shuttle service wants the kid removed from their service. Session 2943 sees the hand of chaos at work here. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
